Originally founded as East Eau Claire in 1880, Altoona became a main division point on the railroad between St. Paul and Elroy, WI. Currently, it's Eau Claire's closest neighbor to the east and is quickly becoming a progressive residential community with a growing retail and entertainment district. Miles of paved trails wind their way along Lake Altoona and the Eau Claire River, making Altoona a great place to raise a family and an even better place to visit.
