For over 80 years, the John McIlquham family has been growing quality apples at their orchard eight miles east of Chippewa Falls. John & Marykay McIlquham and their two children have continued the tradition by adding something new to the traditional orchard experience - wine and hard apple cider!

Established in 2004, Autumn Harvest Winery produces 14 wines. All wines are produced and bottled by the McIlquhams, fermented in small batches from their orchard-grown apples, as well as from Wisconsin grapes and other fruits from around the region. This local winery has gained a great deal of attention with their award-winning wines, ranging from dry to semi-sweet selections. The tasting room and orchard store are open seasonally, May through October. Visitors can enjoy a glass of wine on their patio. Kids can run the FREE corn maze (September & October). Enjoy live music on Wine Down Saturdays and mark your calendars for the annual Fall Festival, held in September. Pick your own apples and ready picked apples, and wagon rides are also available. Wines can also be found at select local retailers in the Chippewa Valley.

Schultz's Country Barn was built in 1914 by JD Cooper. In 1947 Elmer Schultz purchased the farm and 60 years later it's still the Schultz Farm. Elmer milked cows in the barn for close to 50 years while he and his wife Leanna raised seven children. Duane Schultz later bought the farm from Elmer after milking with him for many years.

According to Carlene Schultz "On September 30th, 2006 my lifelong dream to have my own craft store became a reality. For 38 years my husband and I have sold crafts, pumpkins and other fall produce out of our garage. Each year the business grew a little bigger. In 1995 when my husband sold his milking cows, I thought 'what a wonderful place to have a gift shop.' In 2004 it began taking shape thanks to the help of our five grown children, our extended family and many friends. After 1 1/2 years of hard work and countless hours, we finally opened our year-round country store and loft rental!"

After the renovation the interior of the barn still has the original timbers, some cow stanchions and drinking cups. The hay barn (which is available for party rental) still has the hay conveyor, ladders and many of Elmer's old tools hanging on the walls. Corn Maze The first step is to come up with the design you want. The Maze Co. then generates this onto their computer. They then transfer it to their GPS. When the corn is 8-12' high, they come with their GPS, 4-row corn cutter and cut the maze through the cornfield. Their maze is 6.5 acres and it takes 6-7 hours to cut it. They have to keep up after he is done, until the opening date, with cutting any regrowth. Now they have to decide where they want what we call "Check Points" to be. Each person is given a ticket with six punches marked on their ticket. When they find the first check point, they punch their appropriate area on the card, etc. This is the fun and game of a corn maze, to see if you can find all of the check points. We also have trivia questions throughout the maze, which are educational and entertaining. These questions also help, because you can tell if you have been down that row before, if you keep seeing the question over and over. IT IS FUN and CHALLENGING!!

Loft Rentals are now open for parties or events of any kind! Call (715) 287-4684 for open dates and questions or send an e-mail to carann63@tcc.coop.
